Venu Profile

Visionary leader who didn't invent LLMs

...or for that matter anything else.

Head over to LinkedIn for the standard, boring profile.

In a nutshell

I currently work at Salesforce (all silliness of this site aside, the teams I work with are pretty amazing), and was previously a Principal Product Manager at Amazon. My sinful past life includes years as a management consultant, though I was an engineer prior to that. Don't fault me for trying to change the world one slide at a time. I've spanned startups and large enterprises across three continents, leading teams to deliver both enterprise and consumer products. In my spare time, I read, write, tinker, and travel.

My wanderings

Living in different countries has given me an appreciation for various cultures and their wonderful people. It has also enabled the ability to work well with diverse teams and understand nuances. The image represents places I've lived.

The professional life

You'll probably recognize some of these companies. Each has taught me something worth carrying forward. I'm grateful for the friendships I've retained from each of these places. My experiences have been largely positive with an occasional sprinkle of awful. But such is life.

Hobbies. They keep you happy.

Reading: I've probably read every day for the last 15-20 years. My preferred genres are history, science, police procedurals, legal-thrillers, realistic science fiction, technology and business. My preferred method of reading is a Kindle Paperwhite. Here are some of my favorite books.

Writing: Some of my works (under a pen name) have been read millions of pages on Amazon. Don't worry, nothing controversial. I like science and ancient history and it's along those lines.

Cartooning: Yes, I suppose it's a form of writing but I'd like to give it its own category because why not. I used to cartoon as a kid, and I've rekindled it somewhat in recent years. I'll put a few in here in due time.

I don't understand them, but I think they're amazing. — My Dad

Tech Tinkering: I love technology. While my formal coding days ended long ago, I've always tried to keep in touch because not only does it bring me joy, it is also essential to understanding engineering teams and developers and appreciate their day-to-day work. Here are a few things I've done for fun.

Other stuff: I like traveling (who doesn't) and I've been to many places but there's lot more I haven't seen than I have. I love rain. I enjoy the confounded looks when people try to sell me the horrors of Seattle weather.

Articles

Are these musings of a visionary leader, wisdom whisperer, and LLM connoisseur? Just kidding. This isn't linkedIn.
These short articles are my views on various topics.

"Who writes blog posts these days? Is this 1997?" — Some guy.

Whatever, man. That's like, your opinion. And that's why I renamed blog as articles.
